Nizami Village, Ararat Region: The “Effective Use of Waste in the Educational Setting” project has reached the secondary school in Nizami village, Ararat region, bringing waste management education directly into the classroom.
Through an informative seminar led by Hakob Mikoyan, president of Makrapatum Environmental-Educational NGO, students learned how civic participation can reduce the harmful effects of waste on human health and the environment.
As a result of the project, a collaboration was established between the school and a paper recycling company. Recycling bins were installed on campus, enabling students to take part in ongoing paper waste collection efforts.
This initiative transforms students from passive learners into active contributors in managing waste and promoting sustainable practices in the Ararat region.
The project was jointly developed by ArmeniaCorps participants from Nizami and Norabats villages to promote waste management in rural schools. It was implemented under the “ArmeniaCorps” Development Initiative, funded by the U.S. Department of State Public Diplomacy Section.
