Khachpar Village, Ararat Region: To strengthen the well-being of women in Khachpar and neighboring villages, a reproductive health seminar was held as part of the “Solutions to Important Problems around the Coffee Table” project.
Led by Dr. Gayane Petrosyan, obstetrician-gynecologist from the Republican Institute of Reproductive Health, the session focused on critical areas of maternal care, family planning, and women’s overall health. As a senior specialist with the School of Motherhood, Dr. Petrosyan brought trusted expertise to the discussion.
Participants gained valuable insights into government support programs for pregnant women and newborns in Armenia, empowering them to make informed decisions and access essential resources. This localized educational effort created a space for open dialogue, helping women connect personal health with community development.
The seminar was developed and led by an ArmeniaCorps participant from Khachpar within the ArmeniaCorps Development Initiative funded by the Cultural Vistas Muskie Alumni Small Grants Program.
By addressing reproductive health through community-based dialogue, the project contributed to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in good health and well-being, gender equality, and strengthening rural livelihoods.
We are grateful for the active participation of the rural women and deeply appreciate Dr. Gayane Petrosyan’s contribution in creating a safer, more informed future for families in the region.
