Promoting Women’s Employment in Getapnya, Darakert, and Ghukasavan villages

Building on the strengths of their communities and the knowledge gained through the ArmeniaCorps initiative, participants have launched the “Promoting Women’s Employment” project in Getapnya, Darakert, and Ghukasavan villages.

Grounded in the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, this initiative identifies and mobilizes the talents of unemployed women, offering them practical skills to enter the workforce and contribute to their local economies. The project directly advances SDG 5, SDG 8, and SDG 10 by fostering gender equality, decent work opportunities, and economic inclusion.

After winning the ArmeniaCorps community project pitching competition, the team secured funding for implementation. Today, 12 women are actively participating, learning to create marketable items using acrylic techniques on bags, shirts, and scarves—skills that can lead to income-generation and entrepreneurship.

ArmeniaCorps is a community development initiative led by USG alumna Hayasa Tahmazyan, funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Public Diplomacy Section, and supported by the Masis Consolidated Community in Ararat region, Armenia.
